Parents have been struggling with the best way to merge technology into their kids' daily life while also managing the content available online. With the goal to provide parents the right tools to manage their kids' digital experiences, Google aimed to develop a new tablet experience to nurture kids' curiosity with dedicated content only for them.
Designed for kids.
Google Kids Space was designed to allow kids to explore their interests by selecting topics they like. Allowing them to see new and engaging content to read, play and make.
Discover, create and grow.
The Play, Read, Watch and Make tabs show content curated by children education specialists to allow for fun experiences inside Kids Space while encouraging off-screen activities on the Make tab.
Daily recommendations.
Kids Space features daily content recommendations right from the Home tab. It explores topics kids are interested in while keeping it fun with silly jokes and fun facts.
Create your own avatar.
Kids are encouraged to create their own avatar when they first start the experience – customizing various characteristics including hair, facial expressions, outfits and accessories like backpacks.
Establishing rules and guidelines.
To allow for consistency across the experience and the internal teams, rules and guidelines were also provided.
